How skill is estimated

Table tennis estimate

Range

100 – 2800

Method

Rally chance from the points difference, built up through legal 11-point finishes into a match chance, then a capped update.

What we capture

Best-of-five game scores; one entry, opponent confirms.

How it updates

Winners never fall and losers never rise; a provisional player may be updated without a settled opponent moving.

First games

Four answers may seed 400 / 800 / 1200 / 1600 points (skip: 800); a dated existing rating can seed it instead with added uncertainty.

Placement question

Against a regular player, can you keep a controlled rally going and place the ball deliberately? — still learning contact / can sustain rallies / can place and spin under pressure / established club competition.

Honesty about the number

What this rating is, and what it isn't

Where no universal amateur scale exists, MeetYourMatch says so rather than inventing one.

Benchmark

USATT rating points — a real published calculation, used as units only

Because a genuine published system exists, the Meet Your Match label matters more, not less. Imported ratings keep their system name and date.

What it costs to play

Illustrative MeetYourMatch service fee for Table Tennis: £3.60 per player, against a planned average of £4.50 per player per game.

The MeetYourMatch service fee covers matchmaking and booking coordination. Each player pays their own. The approved assumption is an average of £4.50 per player per game; actual per-game and per-city rates are still to be set, and the amounts shown here are illustrative demo prices. Anything the venue charges — table or court time, any minimum spend — is separate from this fee.
